Meet Me

Hi, I’m Maureen.

Most people come to me tired — overwhelmed, stuck, or pushing through on their own for longer than they should have had to. Sometimes they know exactly what’s wrong. Often they just know that something isn’t right.

What we do together is slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and look at the options side by side. I want to understand your life from your perspective, because the better I understand you as a person, the better the care I can give you.

You will never leave one of my appointments feeling like a decision was made for you. My job is to listen, give you honest, high-quality advice, lay out the choices, and then make the decision with you.

Whoever you are and whatever you’re coming in for, what you’ll get from me is dignity, respect, and high-quality care. If that’s the kind of care you’re looking for, I’d be glad to meet you.

Conditions I Help With

I work with adults across a wide range of mental health concerns. People commonly come to me for:

  • Anxiety, stress, and burnout
  • Intrusive thoughts and obsessive worry
  • Depression and low motivation
  • Depression that hasn’t responded to previous treatment
  • ADHD and difficulty focusing
  • Bipolar disorder and mood changes
  • Trouble sleeping and the effect it has on mood
  • Substance use and the role it plays in mood and memory
  • Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not like yourself
  • Medication management as part of a whole-person plan
  • Supportive therapy alongside medication management

I welcome patients of every background, and I work regularly with LGBTQIA+ patients and with veterans.

Together we’ll look at the whole picture and build a plan that fits your life.

Why I Chose Psychiatry

When I was an undergraduate, a close friend of mine was going through serious mental health challenges, and she turned to me. I told her I thought she needed help, and that I would help her find it. What I learned in the process was how hard that is — and when she finally did get care, it wasn’t good care.

Watching someone I loved go through that, and feeling helpless alongside her, is what set my direction. I wanted the access to be better and the quality to be better. I considered several paths into healthcare and found psychiatric nursing, and it was the right fit.

I chose to work as a nurse before becoming a nurse practitioner, which turned out to be one of the most valuable decisions I made. I still think about my inpatient days all the time when I’m practicing.

My approach now starts with getting to know you. I’m genuinely interested in people — all kinds of jobs, backgrounds, beliefs, and lives — and respect is a large part of how I practice. The more someone trusts you, the more they’ll tell you, and the more they tell you, the more you can actually help.

I lean on motivational interviewing, on education, and on supportive listening. I find that explaining what’s happening is empowering: people come back to the next visit understanding their own condition, and the changes hold better when you arrived at them yourself.

And everything you tell me stays between us. That’s not a policy I follow, it’s something I take seriously and permanently.

The NP I see is very knowledgeable and helped me sort out my symptoms. He asks a lot of questions and gave me a lot of clarity about the possibilities for treating my depression and ADHD. I did not realize how much depression can affect ADHD long term until we talked about how long I had had this. Very glad that I got in for an evaluation.

Great experience for me. I have been suffering silently with ADHD for much of my adult life. I ran into issues with misdiagnoses before coming here. My provider greatly simplified it by separating my other mental health conditions from ADHD, so I could see how much of my challenges are due to ADHD and how much are likely due to other things such as my anxiety. From the start of my first visit I felt very comfortable. Glad I made the switch to come here.

I am very happy with the services so far. The messaging is easy and I get a response back quickly. Billing is straightforward because they send me my estimated cost before my visit, which is very helpful. I get the help I need every visit. My psychiatric NP is great about answering my questions. I never feel rushed, as opposed to other places where they push me through and I feel like a number. I would definitely say it is a good move on my part coming here.
